WINTER IN GREENLAND
The winter in Greenland is fantastic. You can experience snow (lots of it), dog sledding rides (an essential part of surviving in Greenland), ice fishing adventures and the amazing northern lights. On our winter tours you will not only explore and practice these activities but will also learn about the local lifestyle. For us is important that you also meet our culture, our people and learn about our history to experience Greenland to the fullest.
In Greenland the winter extends from November to May. However, the best months recommended for the winter tours are from late January to early May. It is still a long season with plenty of opportunities for you to join Greenland Fiord Tours expeditions in the Arctic.
The winter temperatures can variate between regions, and in dry places even if the thermometer shows -30°C it won’t feel that bad. However, if there’s wind, it can feel colder than it is.
Due to Greenland’s size, is hard to generalize but the temperatures can go from -25 °C up to 8°C so we always recommend to bring enough warm clothes and dress in layers, in order to take them on and off depending on the day, area, etc.
In case you need more information, you can download our guide with tips and recommendations on what to bring on your winter adventure in Greenland.
Remember, you will have a better experience if you have proper clothes and shoes that you feel comfortable in.
